Oh, to be a kid again...

Oh, to be a kid again......I wish I had naptime. Evan so did not want to lie down....no momma, I'm not tired he said and then BAMB....out cold! Brayden is feeling better from his ear infections. However, he got a boo-boo on Monday. A toy he was playing with fell over and he hit his head on the fireplace...and of course, the boys had pulled the bumpers off, so.... he has an ugly looking cut above his left eye. Auntie Lana was watching him and felt SO BAD! He went to the urgent care at 23 and Romeo Plank and they irrigated the wound and put some Dermabond on it. No harm done. He looks aweful cute with the bandaid on his forehead.

Today we went for a short walk around the block to enjoy some of the sunshine. Evan rode his big wheel, Brayden pimped in the stroller, and Kayla got to strut her stuff....she was so happy. She is doing OK. I am super sensitive to any behavior change in her. She does not eat.... I FREAK, she poops weird....I FREAK.... her gas smells different....I FREAK.... you get the picture. I have changed her diet and am feeding her extra protein...yes, I am cooking meat for the dog (don't anyone say a word) ... I don't think J and I are on the same wavelength right now when it comes down to what to do, but I am doing it anyway. Being a strong woman is hard enough, but having to be a fortress of a mom and caregiver is darn right impossible at times. I know you all have felt the same at times. No tears allowed, strong for everyone else, always having to make decisions that suck one way or another, and no one ever knows...no one ever knows the internal conflict and uncertainty that you feel or the internal struggles that are going on inside you.

Work is alright. I have been going in early a lot lately and I think the lack of sleep is getting to me. It is hard to keep this house running somewhat regularly and be away three days of the week. I feel like all I do is play catch up on my days off.....as I am sure you all feel the same way. I CANNOT wait for summer. I want to get outside and take the boys out to see RIO. RIO always makes me feel better no matter what is going on in my life. His nicker melts my heart to this day. I am blessed to have him and be able to keep him as part of my life. I thank my parents for introducing me to my baby and for helping me until I was able to take care of him myself. Thank you Lana for always driving me out to the barn...even when you didn't want to.

Up to no good...

Brayden, Brayden, Brayden (sigh)... he is ON THE MOVE! I cannot keep up with him. He is more mischievious than his brother I think. Now beside the dogs dish and under the coffee table he loves his brothers art easel. He was so great at the restaurant, but then Grandma Deanna and Pop-pop came over to visit and of course he was overly tired and was complaining. Sorry Grandma Deanna and Pop-pop!

Lookin' Good!

Here's a pic of Evan lookin' good in his tie for Easter Brunch with Grandma Moosie, Grandpa Bruce, Auntie Lana, and Uncle Kurt. We went to J. Baldwin's and the boys were GREAT! They had no nap of course, but still behaved like angels. They both ate everything in sight. We had a great time. Thanks Grandma Moosie and Grandpa Bruce!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone! The Easter Bunny was great to us this year. The boys enjoyed hunting for the eggs Evan colored. Evan got a new engine for his GeoTrax set and Brayden got some new books. Thanks Mr. E. Bunny....see you next year!

Who Knew...

Ok...I was in the kitchen and Evan said "hey momma, look." This is what I saw when I turned around....great, huh? I guess boys will be boys isn't just a statement. And J watched the whole thing and only laughed....I guess dad will be dads should be a common statement too.

Brayden update...

Brayden boys doing better. No fevers anymore. His drainage has ceased. Still needs the breathing treatments though. Easter brunch should still be a go.

Happy Birthday...

Our friend Jenny Mikolajczak became an Aunt today...for the second time. T.J. and Stacey had their daughter Mackenzie Lilliana at 3:06 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Mom and baby are both doing well. Congrats Mikolajczak crew!

Dying Easter Eggs...

Today we colored Easter Eggs for the anticipated arrival of Mr. E. Bunny. Evan did a great job, but of course he got dye all over his hands. I am sure it will still be there in the morning. Happy Early Easter to everyone!

Calgon take me away...

Help! All the boys are sick and I need to get out of here! Brayden has a double ear infection and bronchiolitis. Evan is just overly tired, complaining that his stomach hurts, and attached to me at the hip. "Mommy carry me" here, there, and everywhere. J can hardly get out of bed. I feel like a drug dealer. Between the meds for the dog, the boys, and J I am constantly handing out meds or giving breathing treatments, etc., etc. I do less at work and actually get a paycheck from them....something is wrong with this. Hopefully this will all get better for Easter Sunday.

Kayla Update...

Well, we got Kayla's results...she had a mast cell tumor....it's a kind of skin cancer that is histamine based. Complicated to explain.... more common in some breeds than others. I am not sure how to feel. Of course I am sad that my baby girl has cancer. I am torn regarding the info out there regarding treatment options and exactly how far we can/want to go. Since clean margins were impossible to obtain in the jaw and the vet said the tumor was in the muscle and not just the subq tissue like usual.....I am just torn. The onc. who read the path report said worst case scenario with no treatment......6 mo to a year. Other reports I have read say they can last many years...they recommend antihistamine treatment...blah, blah, blah. It's all quite complex. Don't be sad though because she is recooperating from her surgery well and back to her old self...she is stealing food from the boys and pushing me and J our of bed at night. Alls well at the Felosaks!

Kayla had surgery today...

Well, TaTa, or Kayla to us adults, had surgery today. She had a suspicious lump on her bottom jaw...the right side. I took her to the vet and he said she needed a skull X-ray, fine needle aspiration and biopsy. She needed her teeth done BADLY so we said ok. She went NPO after 2100 yesterday and was dropped off at 0800 this morning. They drugged her up, took blood samples, did the biopsy, aspiration, and skull X-ray and then I got a call at work........they said the aspiration showed suspicious cells, but the skull X-ray showed no bone involvement. An onc. specilalist was consulted and said if they (meaning us) want to do chemo and RT then do a wedge resection and if they don't you can try and excise it completely and then go from there. So I told the DVM to get a chest film and check for mets. So I waited and then I got another call at work......the chest film showed calcifications, an enlarged heart, and two iffy areas. A RT specialist was consulted and he said he did not feel she had any lung mets at this time and to proceed with the procedure. So Kayla was intubated, the mass excised, her teeth cleaned, polished, flouride treatment, nails trimmed, etc. I just picked her up and she is groggy and whiney. She had some diarrhea at the vets due to anxiety and also probably from the bag of caramel candies and wrappers that she inhaled (prior to 2100) yesterday! The mass was very vascular and it had a spider-web appearance.....again suspicious. They cannot be sure that they got all of it due to the fact that it was spiderwebby. We will have to wait and see what the pathology shows and then we will adress all the issues. For right now though our girl is home and getting boiled chicken and rice and loving it! Keep those fingers crossed. Grandpa Bruce is going to watch her at his house so Mommy and the boys can still have their Easter party and Kayla can just rest. Thanks Grandpa!

Photo sessions with the boys...heaven help me....

Well, yesterday I took Brayden and Evan to get Easter photos....Auntie Lana went with me thank goodness! I went to Portrait Innovations....first time there and I enjoyed it and thought they did a great job, but let me tell you photo taking is torture with two boys. It is so hard for them to sit still that long and to get them to smile or look in the same direction is like pulling teeth. Lana would change ones clothes while I was with the other one trying to get some good shots of them by themselves...it was like playing tag.....I was wiped out afterward. All in all though we got some great shots of the boys and we had fun doing it too!

Never to early to start.....

Evan is a great helper....he loves to clean! You giv ehim the vaccuum and off he goes. The other day he started cleaning the floor.....you would think this was great, but by the time he was done it looked like a pool had exploded on the floor it was so wet. That is OK though because he was trying and then it forced MOMMY to clean it. Pretty smart plan on his part.

Please keep us in your thoughts....kayla is having surgery tomorrow....I will not get into it, but please keep her in your thoughts....I will let everyone know how it turns out...

NSSC Easter '08

Today we all went to the North Star Sail Club for Brunch with the Easter Bunny. Evan and Brayden actually sat on the bunnies lap....shocking! It was a great time. Evan played ring toss, bean bag toss, and then got to be Grandma Deanna's "little helper" and pass out the easter bags to all ths kids that were leaving. According to him that was his favorite part. Just goes to show you that it is always better to give than to receive.

Last night we went to game night at the Buch's house. It was great to see everyone. The games were actually fun too! Thank you guys for hosting.

Help, I can't get up...

Remember the movie A Christmas Story (I think that is what it is called) where the mom always says "you're going to shoot your eye out" with the bebe gun.....and remember the part where he is all bundled up and falls down and can't get back up.....well, that was my Brayden boy today. Evan, Brayden and I went outside to play and I put a snowsuit on Brayden...mind you he is still in 6-9 mo clothing, some 12 mo if he's lucky...the snowsuit I have is 18mo.....you can just imagine how he could NOT move....it was funny. Evan had a great time writing on the driveway with shalk, blowing bubbles and moving snow from one pile to another. It was GREAT to get out and enjoy some sunshine! I cannot wait for the SPRING!

The Golf Dome...

Well, J and Evan went to the golf dome today to bond.....actually I think J just wanted an excuse to go and hit some balls. J says Evan did a good job. Uncle Jim went with them....thanks for the pic Uncle Jim. My understanding is that when the guys were practicing putting, Evan would block the hole and prevent them from scoring. I am sure this went over really well with all the non-parent adults.

Saturday we took the boys to the new Bounce House at Hall Rd and Heydenreich. It was great...we were the ONLY ones in there and we went wild. They have free arcade games too so we played them all. J took Brayden down the biggest slide I have ever seen...I don't think he liked it, but he did not cry. Poor baby....being the second he gets abused....no more baby stuff for him. He'll probably end up at the driving range next weekend...hehehe....

Brayden is on the move. He goes from one end of the house to another. He found the toilets today...well 2 out of the 3 upstairs at least. He is scarfing down "big" people food too! He keeps trying to steal food from Evan and us. I am amazed at how much he is growing. I have no more baby. Mommies sad!
